OT Foundation News : Keeping You in the OT Loop

Skip GrahamSkip Graham,
Director, The Internet Oldtimers Foundation

What good is belonging to an industry if you aren't shaping it?

Every day the Oldtimers private list serve receives posts from its membership postulating the future of Internet Marketing.  Hypotheses and forecasts are beneficial and thought-provoking, but we as an organization we must continue to take tangible steps to reach tomorrow's triumphs.

To achieve this we are always seeking bright, driven individuals to participate in "The Andy Bourland Internet Oldtimers Mentorship Program."  OT Members can nominate protégés now for this free, one year program.  Those who wish to be considered for the program can also visit the Oldtimers website for additional details.  This is how the Internet Oldtimers pay it forward to an individual and to the industry.

Oldtimers keep attendees of Affiliate Summit New York at full charge.

Affiliate Summit New York was another great success for our fellow OT members Sean Collins and Missy Ward.  And the OT was there as usual with our electronics charging station to provide check-in, power-up services for the run down cell phones and laptops of shows attendees.  As always it proved an excellent way to interface with people in the industry and recruit for the mentorship program.

90+ degrees, but the OT kept rolling at Mad46

It was burning hot the week of Affiliate Summit, but that didn't stop the OT faithful from coming together on the rooftop of the Mad46 Lounge overlooking Manhattan to meet and greet.  The sun had yet to set and the temperature and humidity combined into an angry brew that could only be soothed with, well, a cold brew.  Drinks where not a luxury, but a requirement for survival.  Along with the 30 or so members and guests, two OT mentorship protégés, Katie Hascome and Meghan Nesta, were also in attendance along with Katie's OT Mentor, Mark Westlake.

The OT Executive Launch Party for ad:tech NY is being planned now, who will be the big winner...

For those members who are new, the OT party during ad:tech New York is always held at a premium location and is our grand event of the year.  With lights low enough make us all look good, but high enough to still read the name tags, the top shelf, open bar is where the real business gets done as everyone enjoys passed h'our dourves and down beat jazz.  With approximately 120 of the industry's top luminaries and decision makers in attendance, invitations are highly prized.   This is where the movers and shakers go after sending their staff off to be yelled at in a loud club.   Our sponsors each have an OT staffer as their guide and are taken and introduced to the other attendees for one-on-one conversations to determine how they might be able to work together.   Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and our past sponsors have included VeriSign, LookSmart, and Syntryx just to name a few.  So if you know of a company that is looking for a powerful yet cost effective way to get its message and upper management team in front of the leaders in the industry, the Oldtimer ad:tech executive launch party is an unbeatable opportunity.  For more information contact Leigh Morrison at leigh.morrison@oldtimerslist.com.

You have to be more than old in internet years to be an Internet Oldtimer...

As the interactive marketing industry as a whole matures, The Oldtimers Membership Committee has decided to set clearer standards for consideration of membership beyond tenure and the recommendation of an existing member.   New guidelines for membership will take a closer look at an applicant's total work history and the needs of the list to effectively reflect the makeup of the industry as a whole.   The details are still being worked out, but once complete they will be turned over to the membership for review and discussion.
